Introducing the BP1 – Digital Vehicle Interface from DIRECTED

When installing a Remote Start system, most modern vehicles need an interface to communicate with their complex data networks and factory immobilizer systems. To give the vehicle the “key” information it needs, installers traditionally choose one of two methods:

Option 1: Use an OEM Key

Ask the customer for a spare key and place it in a 556UXL or use a standard key-wrap.
Pros: Uses the factory key’s real data for a true “authorized start.”
Cons: Customers hate giving up a key, and positioning key-wraps can be frustrating during installation.

Option 2: Use an Interface Module (DB3)

Install a DB3 with vehicle-specific firmware (and sometimes Key2Go).
Pros: No need for an OEM key.
Cons: Often requires interrupting IMMO lines and extra wiring. Works well when supported, but many newer vehicles (like 2021+ GM models) are becoming much harder to integrate this way.

The BP1 delivers the best of both worlds without the headaches.

The BP1 learns to the vehicle as a true authorized key. Using DirectLinkDT and the DKPROG tool, simply follow the flash/program steps. During a remote start attempt, the BP1 presents key data to the vehicle exactly like a factory smart key would.

Benefits

  • No need for customers to give up a key
  • No alignment or placement issues like with key-wraps
  • No IMMO line interrupts or risk to smart-key antenna wiring
  • Works with new GM Global-B vehicles
  • No extra wiring—connects to DS3/DS4 with a simple D2D cable
  • Provides a true authorized start (no “tricking” the vehicle)
  • Still feels a little like magic!
